Valentine Vibes
For me - this year has started off with quite a jolt. I relaunched my entire brand two weeks ago and added a new 'Secret Shop', into the mix which features lots of Ashley Lucas Art cuteness & fun. On top of lots of traveling over the holidays that included weaving through six different states, we also headed upstate last weekend during a flat-out snowstorm to visit my best friend and her family.
Due to the weather, our stay was extended and I ended up having a simply delicious time enjoying a proper tea with my friend at Harney & Sons.
The falling snow added to the atmosphere of the day we spent antiquing and just enjoying being together while our kids reveled in dad time.
I found a pack of Victorian calling cards in the local antique shop there, and instead of doing work yesterday - I spent an inordinate amount of time looking at them with a magnifying glass only to discover that they are officially from the 1870's. I purchased them as inspiration for an upcoming book I'm working on - and currently have them on my work desk hanging out amongst my crystal collection.
In exciting news, my first traditionally published children's book Mermaid Candy is only two short months away from being sent to homes far and wide.
In not so exciting news, I've been confined to a 'boot' for the next one to two months due to an ankle injury that was misdiagnosed back in September. When the doctor looked me in the face this week and said, "No beach walks - NO beachcombing until this is over," my heart sank into the floor.
Luckily, it's winter.
