Jersey Shore Scavenger Hunt | Common Beach Finds | Sook & Hook Blog
Share
After four years of beachcombing on the Jersey Shore almost daily - I can say that there are certain finds I find much more than others.Â
Â
How many of these can you spot the next time you head to the NJ Shore?
Â

Driftwood
Extra points if you find a clean, dry piece perfect for crafting!
Â

Wampum
These beautiful shell bits feature purple and white and originate from quahog clam shells.
Â

False Angel Wings
Said to be sent as a message from heaven, these lovely, fragile shells are hard to find in pairs.
Â

Sea Glass
Green, White and Brown Glass are the most common colors to find on the NJ Shore.
Â

Mermaid's Purse
These crazy looking things are actually a skate, ray or shark egg case. Most found on the beach are empty with nobody home.Â
Â

Atlantic Surf Clam
The ideal choice for people who love to decorate and paint shells!

I took note of your finds. I saw an angel wing yesterday but did not pick it up. I regret it now, lol. But I was hoping your blog to have more info on stones and shells, especially sand dollars. I did find some sea glass though.
I love all of Ashley’s work. It is magnificent. Can’t stop looking at it.
